The Best in Veterinary Ultrasound Technology
The veterinarians of Mount Tabor Animal Hospital utilize a highly-advanced ultrasound machine that produces impressive imaging quality, which allows for the best advanced diagnostic care for your pet. In addition to providing the best imaging equipment for your pet directly in our office, our staff also receives hands-on clinical education and training by the board certified specialists at the Sound-Eklin® Academy of Veterinary Imaging.
An ultrasound exam is a way of looking inside your pet's body to examine areas such as abdominal, vascular, and musculoskeletal regions without having to perform surgery. MTAH may recommend an ultrasound exam of your pet for one of these reasons:
Abnormal blood work |
Recheck on previous problem |
Unexplained prolonged bouts of vomiting or diarrhea |
Weight loss with no change in eating habits |
Baseline ultrasound for future examination (geriatric pets) |
Cancer staging |
Chronic infections |
Fluid in chest or abdomen |
Change in urinary habits |
Pregnancy |
Pre-surgical exam |
Exam to permit biopsy |
The ultrasound exam is performed on a padded lift-table while your pet lies quietly on his/her side in our exam room for approximately 20 to 30 minutes at a time. For the majority of the exam, minimal pressure is applied. Sometimes, to capture a good image, your pet may experience a slight "pushing" against their skin, or they may wiggle a little when we image a "ticklish" spot. Because of this, your pet may be gently restrained by one of our veterinary assistants. However, most pets simply enjoy the undivided attention, and extra ear rubs during the exam.
After the exam, the veterinarian will discuss your pet's results with you and make recommendations for follow-up care and treatment.
Digital X-Rays to Diagnose Your Pet
When your pet needs an X-ray, Mount Tabor Animal Hospital offers digital X-rays. This is a form of X-ray imaging where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. It's the fastest, most accurate way to use X-ray technology when it becomes necessary.
Specialist Veterinary Radiologist Consultations
When an advanced radiology need arises, the primary care veterinarians at MTAH work with the veterinary radiologist specialists of Antech Imaging.
These veterinary specialists are on call to assist our veterinarians with advanced radiological consultations, and this is just one more way we are able to offer comprehensive diagnostic care for your pet when they need it. |
